Heating Up This Winter

Just when most teams are winding down for the winter, the Arsenal FC-S Girls U14 team is heating up! The team has put together impressive back to back appearances in the Finals of two Southern California tournaments. 

Arsenal Gunner Cup 2008 - Finalist
The team began by playing skilled, energetic soccer at the Arsenal Gunners Cup over Thanksgiving weekend. In the Finals, the team met up with the Arsenal FC-Sanquist team and came up short losing 2-1. 

Anaheim Holiday Classic 2008  - Finalist
The team played three impressive games, dominating their opponents with strong defensive play and found their scoring groove.  In the finals, they faced a strong defensive Chelsea SC team.  Unfortunately the girls lost in PKs.  

Arsenal Winter Classic 2009 - Semi-Finalist
Continuing on there hot streak the team posted an impressive 2-1 victory over Arsenal GU14 White to make it to the semi-finals.
 Look for more exciting tournament news from these girls as they embark on a impressive and challenging tournament schedule in preparation for making a State Cup run.

Welcome to Arsenal FC-S U-14 Girls website, thanks for visiting our site.

As head coach of the U-14 girls  I welcome your interest in our team and our club which is now the fastest growing youth soccer club in the area.

 The focus of our coaching philosophy will continue to be putting development of the technical and tactical abilities of all players and the team as a whole ahead of the win loss record. I believe that “W”s come as a result of improving and expanding individual talents within the context of team work, strong team spirit and sense of pride in the achievement of the team as a whole.

Developing in players a comfort with the ball at their feet and giving them the ability to play with their head up will allow a player to begin to see the field and become more aware of their surroundings and their options. This awareness will lead to a whole new world of tactical play, and the true beauty of the game will begin to be seen. We hold the belief that the game should be taught as it should be played, one of skill and teamwork with an emphasis on style, tactical awareness, a sense of fair play and respect for the laws and spirit of the game, not winning at all costs. We look forward to building on last year’s foundations to continue the long term development of all our players both as athletes and as individuals.
